Vitaliy Machitsky declared Honorary Citizen of Slatina
Tue, 07/13/2010 - 10:24Slatina, 12 July 2010 –Alro SA, (BSE: ALR), the biggest aluminium producer from Central and Eastern Europe, recently celebrated 45 years of existence. On this occasion, as a sign of appreciation for the long-term stability provided by the Company, the Slatina Municipality declared Vitaliy Machitski, Honorary Citizen of Slatina.
“I am honoured to receive such a distinction for Alro’s accomplishments and I would like to thank the local authorities from Slatina for recognizing the achievements of the Company and all employees for their efforts and dedication”, said Vitaliy Machitski, Chairman of Vimetco’s Board of Directors. “Alro evolved from an ingot producer to an integrated producer, as part of an international aluminium Group. We are committed to continue our programme to further consolidate Alro’s position on the international aluminium market, maintaining, at the same time, our position as a socially responsible Company for Slatina.”
Alro implemented a strong programme of increasing competiveness and efficiency, becoming an integrated aluminium producer. The Company has its own alumina supplier, after reopening Alum following a complex modernization process. In upstream, Alro is increasing its output for higher added value products, improving the quality and product range at the plant in Slatina.
The amount of investments planned for 2010 totals USD 15 million. With the planned capital expenditure programme for 2010, overall investments made in Alro between 2002 and 2010 totalled USD 269 million.
Alo is also continuing its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The Company is supporting programmes in education, health and safety.
