ALRO was awarded First Place at the ARIR Gala for its 2020 Sustainability Report

Slatina, 17 November 2021 – ALRO S.A. (BSE: ALR, “the Company” or “ALRO”), one of the largest vertically integrated aluminium producers in Europe, won the First Place in the category “Best Sustainability Report” category during the Romanian Investor Relations Association (ARIR) 3^rd GALA. The event celebrates together the performance of the Romanian listed companies, acknowledges best practices in Investor Relations and non-financial reporting, and recognizes the contribution of the capital market actors to the Romanian economy.

An independent jury composed of five specialists with considerable experience across industries and markets prepared this evaluation based on eight comprehensive criteria, including the proper use of international methodology and standards, transparency in actions and programs, applying best corporate governance practices, and the existence of a sustainability strategy.

ALRO has made investments of more than USD 700 million in the last nearly 20 years since its privatization and implemented state-of-the-art technologies. Thus, it significantly reduced electricity consumption rates, increased recycled aluminium production, and reduced the Company's environmental footprint. Furthermore, ALRO has become one of the top 3-5 environmentally responsible companies in Europe in the aluminium industry from a direct emissions perspective and aims to become one of the top ten worldwide aluminium smelters (excluding China) from an energy efficiency perspective in the electrolysis area in the coming years.

ALRO Group has also adhered to three major sustainability projects (RemovAI, REEScue, and REACTIV through ALUM) and joined ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative), an international association that contributes to enhancing sustainability in the global aluminium sector (both for ALRO and Vimetco Extrusion). At the same time, applying the best available techniques within its processes allowed the Company to manufacture high and very high value-added aluminium products, which makes ALRO one of the exclusive club members of the global manufacturers for the aeronautical industry.
