Alro offers US$1.65 million for modernizing the County Hospital Slatina and for new ambulances

Slatina, March 23rd 2007 – Aluminium producer ALRO Slatina (BSE: ALR) budgeted over US$ 1.65 million for buying medical equipments to the County Hospital Slatina and for new ambulances. This measure is part of the social responsibility strategy implemented after the privatization by the majority shareholder Vimetco.

Approx US$ 950,000 will be spent by the company on new medical equipment for modernizing the County Hospital, and another US$ 700,000 will be used for buying ambulances for County Ambulance Service.

The modernizing program for County Hospital includes buying EKG equipments, monitors, operation tables and other. The County Ambulance Service will also receive five new intervention cars.

Alro Slatina has corporate social responsibility programs amounting to millions of dollars, from rebuilding of the houses destroyed by flooding, to health system, education, sports and religion.

Commenting on the donations, Gheorghe Dobra, General Manager ALRO Slatina said:

„As long term investor, we believe we have a responsibility towards the community we activate in. This is the reason we decided to be actively involved in modernizing the County Hospital and the County Ambulance Service. Moreover, Alro has constantly participated in the community’s life, budgeting approx US$1.5 million for supporting social projects, religion, education and sports”.
