Environment Minister Laszlo Borbely visited Alro Slatina

BorbelyAlro, Vimetco’s plant in Slatina, recently received the visit of a delegation led by Mr. Laszlo Borbely, the Environment Minister, and local authorities. The official visit represented a good opportunity for our management team to present the Company’s strategy of cost reduction, environment protection and vertical integration.

During this visit, Gheorghe Dobra, the General Manager of Alro, presented the manufacturing flow for plates and sheets and coils starting with Hot Mill and followed by Otto Junker furnace, 5,000 tons Stretcher, Cold Mills, Olivotto annealing furnace, ultrasonic scanning machine, Seko Warwick furnace, brushing line, packaging area and warehouse, demonstrating the significant achievements of the plant after the privatization.

The officials recognised Alro Slatina as one of the most important companies for the Romanian industry, that fully complies with European environment regulations. Alro was the first company in Oltenia to receive the Integrated Environement Authorization, and among the first 10 in the country. In 2006, Alro received the Integrated Environment Authorization for a period of 10 years, acknowledging that our plant in Slatina is in full compliance with the EU requirements in this field.
