Amsterdam, 23 October 2009 – Vimetco, the largest aluminium producer in Central and Eastern Europe, today announces that a statement of claim has been filed with the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) by the alumina supplier - Viewside Markets Inc – against Vimetco’s Romanian subsidiary, Alro, in relation to the cancellation by Alro of the alumina purchasing contract concluded in 2008. In this statement of claim, Viewside Markets Inc claims damages amounting between USD 31 and 34 million; the claim is disputed by Alro on both liability and quantum.
