Alro donated five ambulances with modern equipments to the Ambulance Service Slatina

Slatina, 28 March 2008 – Aluminium producer Alro Slatina (BVB: ALR) donated five ambulances, worth over USD 500,000 USD (EUR 340,000) to the Ambulance Service Slatina. The intervention cars are diesel, AGENA L2, chassis Peugeot BOXER, with 157 power horse. They are equipped according to Health Ministry requirements, with modern equipments for first aid.

Last year, Alro offered medical equipment to the County Hospital Slatina, offering EKG units, operation tables and others. Alro Slatina has corporate social responsibility programs amounting to millions of dollars, from rebuilding of the houses destroyed by flooding, to health system, education, sports and religion.

The company believes the health of its employees and of the local community is a priority. Besides the support offered to the health system in Slatina, Alro has several programs for training the employees, for health and safety.

Last year, the company invested over USD 3 million in work safety programs. The equipments and sanitary materials were worth USD 1 million. Last year, the company also offered protection meals for workers in difficult environment, worth about USD 2 million. Moreover, last year Alro organized training programs for the employees worth USD 150,000.

Commenting on the donation, Gheorghe Dobra, General Manager Alro Slatina said:

„Alro believes it has a responsibility towards its employees and the local community. This is the reason our corporate social responsibility strategy relies on offering support to those sectors that need the most help. Accordingly, we decided to invest in modernizing the Ambulance Service, but also the County Hospital Slatina. The program for the two units amounts to approx USD 1.6 million”.
