Slatina, 10 October 2014 – Alro SA (BSE: ALR, “Alro”, “the Company”), one of the largest aluminium producers in Central and Eastern Europe, announces that none of its employees or of its Romanian subsidiaries is currently working in the Company’s mines in Sierra Leone.

Since August, there isn’t any active Romanian employee delegated in Sierra Leone. For the only five temporary Romanian employees of the company that operates the mine (Sierra Mineral Holdings 1 Ltd or SMHL), Alro decided to temporary suspend their contracts, at their request, the employees being currently on the territory of Sierra Leone.

Alro took all the necessary measures to protect its employees, calling back to Romania its expats.

Currently, Alro’s mining operations are supervised with local personnel. There haven’t been reported any infection and any death among the Romanian employees caused by the Ebola virus.

Also, since the beginning of the out break, SMHL was and still is actively involved in fighting against Ebola through planned measures and donations for the local communities.

At its Sierra Leone operations, Alro had maximum 20 Romanian expats, since the takeover, in the period when the activity was at full capacity.

Since July, Alro decided to repatriate the Romanian employees from Sierra Leone, as a consequence of the spread of the Ebola virus, in the regions close to the Company’s local operations, though among its expats that worked in Sierra Leone there haven’t been registered, so far, cases of infection with the Ebola virus.
